Radioactive medicinal springs in the Skalná - Bad Brambach area

Radiohydrochemical exploration took place in east part of the "smrčinský" pluton between "Skalná-Plesná-Bad Brambach in years 2016-2018. The main aim of the exploration was location and thorough research of possible occurrence of waters with radioactive concretation higher than 1500 Bq/l. That is a value for radioactive mineral waters given by the "lázeňským" law number 164/2001 Sb. Most important area is Plesná-south where was discovered several springs with values exceeding 5000 Bq/l. Eminent spring is called "Břetislav-Radonka" and lies one kilometre southwest from the train station Plesná-Šneky with an activity of about 12.5 kBq / l 222 Rn and a flow rate of about 2.5 l / min. It is the most active surface discharge of radon mineral water in the Czech Republic Another significant source area is north of Skalna - north. These springs were discovered almost 60 years ago, Dr. Marie Zukriegelová. The main source of this area was named after its discoverer - the "Marie Z" spring with an activity of 5800 Bq / l 222 Rn.Further the research focused on historical radioactive conduit which were used to supply village Skalné with water. Determination of Lithium in Mineral Waters Using Electrophoresis in Short Capillary.

The aim of this study was determination of lithium ion concentration in mineral waters "Vincentka" and "Bílinská kyselka" using capillary electrophoresis with contactless conductivity detection. A specialized laboratory-made apparatus designed for separations in short capillaries was first tested for separation of model solution of common inorganic cations and then for analysis of mineral water samples. Lithium ion concentration was determined using method of standard addition. The results obtained were compared with those obtained from atomic absorption and emission spectroscopy; standard addition method as well as the method of calibration graph were used in spectroscopic methods. A good agreement was obtained between experimentally determined concentrations of lithium and those declared in the labels on the mineral water bottles. The bachelor thesis characterizes the Vienna Basin region from a geological and hydrogeological perspective. The main focus is put on the occurrence of mineral water. It describes the basic types of waters that are located there. In a closer look, it describes important types of them, mainly those ones that have the largest occurrence in the region. In another aspect, it analyzes their current condition and use. It defines basic concepts of this issue and describes common or legislative requirements for the classification and description of mineral waters. It puts a closer look and describes main sites of mineral water springs, including local spa places, especially those ones that are currently active. It also briefly deals with localities, where mineral water abstraction or spa treatment took place in the past and which are currently no longer active. Mineral waters in the Bad Brambach - Skalná area, the current knowledges.

This paper summarizes the findings of the mineral waters around Skalná - Bad Brambach. Bad Brambach are radon spa that work here since 1912. Source Wettinquelle is one of the strongest radon springs in the world. Around Skalná is anomalous quantities of uranium, however, that there occurs in such small particles that netěžitelné. Radon is a decay product of U238 series. Within the study area is also NPR Soos, who is known moffetes, but there also are so-called diatomaceous peak which is a dry salt lake containing diatoms. Area of the Nový Kostel is the area with the most frequent occurrence of earthquakes in the Czech Republic. Several earthquake swarms were recorded as well as the local populations. Recent earthquake activity has been recorded in 2011. There are also several other spa municipal Františkovy lázně, Mariánske lázně, Karlovy Vary and other radon baths, which already are but a little further, Jáchymov.
Springs of the radioactive medicinal water in the Lázně Libverda - Świeradów-Zdrój area

The main radionuclide causing high water radiation is 222 Rn with half-life 3.82 days. Concentrations of radon in radioactive mineral water in the Krkonoše-Jizera Crystalline Complex are very high and do not correspond with the concentration of uranium in the source rocks. These springs probably well up near the uranium mineralisation. Search for radioactive mineral water started in 2005 in Orlice- Sněžník Dome built by orthogneisses, which was the first promising area for such research. The research continued to the areas of Jánské Lázně and Horní Malá Úpa built by the Krkonoše orthogneisses in the next few years. In the last two years research was conducted in Lázně Libverda. Until then there were only a few known springs with radioactive mineral water. Lázně Libverda-Świeradów-Zdrój area is located in the Krkonoše-Jizera Crystalline Complex built by Cambrian/Ordovician orthogneisses and Variscan granite pluton. Jizera orthogneisses and the contact of these two objects were considered to be very promising in terms of finding springs of the radioactive medicinal water. Another criterion for a successful exploration is also an abnormal tectonic deformation of the zone. Mineral waters of Františkovy Spa region

The thesis deal with mineral water of Františkovy Spa region and NPR SOOS. Its aim is to provide information about the history of the explotation of mineral water in Františkovy Spa and its surroundings, in the locality of SOOS. It is divided into several chapters. The first chapter introduce Františkovy Spa and its geological and hydrogeological conditions. The history of exploitation of mineral water is also mentioned there. The next chapters are about mineral springs, their genesis and quality. The last chapter summarizes the protection of natural resources. It is focused on exceptional nature reserve SOOS and it refers to general information about the geological and hydrogeological position and ecosystems found there.
